charcuterie gingerbread house

On the 12th day of Christmas, my true love gave to me - a house made out of charcuterie. We put a savory twist on a holiday classic. Y'all, this took FOUR HOURS of my life. Let me start off the bat by giving you this tip - get a fully made gingerbread house for this creation. No need to mess with icing and placing pieces and waiting for them to dry. That would have cut our time way down!

Gumdrops and sugary candy pieces have never really been my thing. When I saw someone make a savory gingerbread house as a holiday tradition alternative, I knew it was for me. And so, we set out to create our own charcuterie wonderland - complete with mozzarella snowmen! While this was a much more tedious and time-consuming project than originally anticipated, we couldn't have been happier with the outcome.

While we used icing to put together the actual gingerbread house, we were careful to use a vegan cheese spread on other parts of the landscape in places we wanted to eat from. The "snow" is actually grated Parmesan that we then used for dinner that night. We even made a little rosemary wreath! Here's a list of what we used to create our Charcuterie Gingerbread House.

ingredients:

  • Gingerbread house kit

  • Boar's Head meat & cheese holiday sampler

  • Mozzarella

  • Parmesan

  • Brie

  • Treeline vegan cheese spread

  • Rosemary

  • Pomegranate seeds

  • Broccoli

  • Vegan bread sticks

  • Pecans

  • Shredded carrot

There's no real set instructions other than to have fun and be creative! There's so many options to decorate with. We'll definitely be making this a new holiday tradition. I hope you enjoy making this house as much as we did.
